Calculate your carbon footprint:

bottlesThere is now overwhelming scientific consensus that human activities are changing the world’s climate.  Over the 20th century, the earth has warmed up by about 0.6 oC and temperatures continue to rise.  In the South West, it is predicted that climate change will mean: hotter, drier summers: milder, wetter winters; rising sea levels and more extreme weather events.

In Dorset, the main sources of CO2 come from road transport (26%), business (35%) and home energy (39%).  So perhaps without realising it, we are contributing to climate change every day of our lives, whether it’s turning on a light, driving to work or buying food many miles from where it’s been produced.

What you can do – Everyone has a carbon footprint – it’s your own personal measure of how much carbon dioxide you create and how much you contribute to climate change. Why not calculate yours on actonco2.direct.gov.uk.
